KCC baseball 3rd in conference after weekend losses

The Kellogg Community College baseball team has dropped to third place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association conference after a rare pair of losses to the currently first-ranked Macomb Community College during an away double header in Warren on Saturday, April 21.

In game one (0-2), sophomore outfielder Chris McCoy, of Battle Creek, led Bruin batters hitting one for three. Sophomore pitcher Caleb Vincent, of Marshall, led from the mound, striking out seven in six innings.

In an eight-inning game two (1-2), sophomore outfielder Andrew Fleming, of Olivet, hit two for three, and sophomore infielder Brett Schultz, of Canton, hit one for two with an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Sean Clancy, of Sturgis, pitched seven innings and had four strike outs.

The team’s next games consist of a double header at home against Ancilla College that begins at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24, at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
