The spring 2013 Battle Creek Regional Job Fair runs from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the McCamly Plaza Hotel, 50 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek.

Kellogg Community College is one of several sponsors of the event, which is the third of what has become a biannual occurrence since the inaugural job fair was held last spring in the Student Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus.

Last fall the event was held at Burnham Brook Community Center, and there were lines of people winding around the block with hundreds of individuals hoping to land work at one of the dozens of employers represented at the fair.

Patrick Casey, director of Career and Employment Services at KCC and an organizer of the job fair, said with just over three dozen participating employers this year’s job fair is on par with the one held last spring.

That job fair drew 500 to 600 people, Casey said, but only around 15 percent of the job seekers had KCC affiliations. He hopes that percentage is higher for today’s event, he said, especially for those students approaching graduation and looking to enter the job market.
