Here are some reminders of upcoming events related to KCC. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

Scheduled for Monday, Nov. 11, 2013:

  • Veterans Day!
  • Miller College will host a Transfer Student Information Table from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Central Walkway.
  • KCC will observe Veterans Day with a Veterans Day Celebration from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the Student Center. Click here for more information from a post on this blog.
  • A Veterans Speaker Series discussion with representatives from KCC’s Career and Employment Services office will begin at 3 p.m. in the Spring Lake Room of the Morris Learning Resource Center.
  • The student-led True Life organization will hold a True Life Gathering from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Kellogg Room.

Scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013:

  • Western Michigan University will host an Onsite Admissions Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kellogg Room.
  • KCC will observe Native American Heritage Month with a Native American Heritage Month Celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center. Performing will be flutist and saxophonist Ken Morgan, who has studied and performed on several Native American flutes, and percussionist Carolyn Koebel.   • Trine University will host a Transfer Student Information Table from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Central Walkway.
  • KCC’s Workforce Solutions Department is offering nonprofit training courses on Facebook Insights from noon to 1 p.m. and Volunteer Supervision, Evaluation and Recognition from 1 to 3 p.m. at the College’s Regional Manufacturing Technology Center, 405 Hill Brady Road, Battle Creek.   • KCC will host a Medical Mobile Clinic on the College’s Circle Drive from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. to offer free medical services to students and community members. Click here for more information from a post on this blog.
  • Siena Heights University will host a Transfer Student Information Table from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Central Walkway.
  • The student-led Art League will hold a General Meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. in room 219 of the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center.

Scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15, 2013:

  • The priority processing deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students applying for financial aid to attend KCC for the Spring 2014 semester is Friday, Nov. 15. By submitting the FAFSA with correct and complete information by this date, students allow for adequate processing time in order to determine financial aid eligibility by the beginning of the spring semester.   • The third and final Bruins Give Back volunteer event of the semester will run from 9 a.m. to noon at locations around the Battle Creek area. Click here for more information or to sign up to participate.

  • KCC’s women’s basketball team will host the first ever Cereal City Shootout basketball tournament for youth beginning at 9 a.m. at the Miller Gym and at the Battle Creek Central High School Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., in Battle Creek. Click here for more information from a post on this blog.

  • KCC’s Bruin Bookstore is accepting gently worn hooded or crewneck sweatshirts this month as part of a Hoodies for the Homeless donation campaign for those in need. All sizes, colors and styles of hooded or crewneck sweatshirts are welcome, and those who donate will receive 25 percent off the purchase of a new KCC hooded sweatshirt.   • KCC is hosting a Veterans Art Exhibit through the end of November featuring art created by current KCC students who are also military veterans. The exhibit is free and open to the public during the College’s regular business hours.
