The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations has honored Kellogg Community College’s Public Information and Marketing Department with six Medallion Awards for its efforts to recruit students and promote the College during the 2013-14 academic year.

The awards, which include recognition of the College’s new website, were announced during the NCMPR’s District Three awards dinner held Oct. 23 in Green Bay, Wis.

Award categories and levels are as follows:

  • Foundation Annual Report: Gold
  • Original Photography (Unmanipulated): Silver
  • Poster (Division B): Bronze
  • Poster (Series): Gold and Silver
  • Website: Bronze

Eric Greene, director of Public Information and Marketing at KCC, said the awards reaffirm the excellence of the department’s marketing efforts and commitment to College and student success.

“These awards reflect our enthusiasm for promoting KCC and our dedication to communicating information about the College in creative, modern and appealing ways,” Greene said. “We’re thrilled to receive the Medallion Awards and sincerely grateful to be recognized by our peers.”

KCC’s PIM Department, which provides a variety of marketing and public relations services on behalf of the College, won four Medallion Awards each year in 2012 and 2013 and two prestigious Paragon Awards – which are national honors awarded by the NCMPR – in 2013.

Department members includes Kathy Jarvie, media design manager; Rachel Roelof, media design staff assistant; Simon Thalmann, digital marketer/writer; Kristen Stolz, secretary; and Eric Greene, director. One of the award-winning poster series was designed by former student worker and KCC alumnus Brandon Smith.

The NCMPR represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges across the United States and Canada. District Three of the NCMPR includes schools in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Ontario. Gold, silver and bronze Medallion and Paragon honors are awarded annually in a variety of marketing and public relations categories.
