KCC Foundation appoints Adam Dingwall and Chad Smith to Board of Directors

The Kellogg Community College Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam R. Dingwall and Chad W. Smith to the KCCF board of directors.

Dingwall served as chief executive officer of the Battle Creek Family YMCA from 2012 to 2014, providing leadership and direction for the $2.5 million nonprofit organization. Prior to this, Dingwall worked for Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools from 1997 to 2012 in several capacities, including as student services director; marketing coordinator for the “In the Spirit of Community” capital campaign; a middle school math teacher; dean of students for the high School and middle school; and as an athletic coach.

Dingwall is a KCC alumnus and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 1985. His community involvement includes serving on The Coordinating Council (TCC) and as a trustee for the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Foundation. He has also been involved with the Battle Creek Family YMCA; served on the Calhoun Area Humane Society Board of Directors and Finance Committee; volunteered as a HOSTS mentor with Battle Creek Public Schools; and coached with the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek TriZelle program.

Smith is an associate partner at Fisher, Spiegel, Kunkle & Gerber, PLLC, a CPA firm located in Battle Creek. He joined the firm in January 1999 and is a certified public accountant. A native of Battle Creek, Smith graduated in 1990 from Pennfield High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University in 1994. Smith is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Smith was a board member at Calhoun Christian School from November 2008 through June 2014 and currently is a volunteer coach for middle school girls and varsity boys basketball.

“Adam and Chad are competent and accomplished professionals who bring knowledge, experience and community connections to the Foundation board,” KCCF Board Chair Kathy-Sue Dunn said. “We look forward to having their leadership, guidance and enthusiasm in service of the Foundation.”

In addition to Dunn, Davis joins current board members KCC President Mark O’Connell, Michael Beckwith, Jill Booth, Steven Claywell, Matt Davis, Vivian Davis, John Dilworth, Eric Greene, Dr. John J.H. Schwarz, Andrew Schweitzer, Richard Scott, Erick Stewart and Catherine Yates.

The KCC Foundation was founded in 1998 by the College to seek private funding to assist students with various needs. A nongovernmental, nonprofit 501(c)(3) with its own funds, the KCC Foundation is managed by a volunteer board of directors.
