Learn sign language in KCC’s American Sign Language: Level 1 Lifelong Learning course

Do you know someone who is deaf? Have you seen people sign? Would you like to learn to communicate with them using American sign language (ASL)?

Sign up for the Kellogg Community College Lifelong Learning Department’s American Sign Language: Level 1 course and learn how to communicate with your hands, face and body!

ASL is quickly becoming one of the most widely used languages in the United States. This eight-week class will introduce you to the basics of ASL, emergency sign language and the world of deaf culture.

NOTE: Students should bring the ASL 1 textbook, “A Basic Course in American Sign Language,” by Humphries, Padden & O’Rourke, with them to class. The book may be purchased online by searching your favorite bookseller’s website for ISBN-13: 978-0932666420 or ISBN-10: 0932666426.
