KCC's 2017 men's basketball team

Kellogg Community College’s men’s basketball team earned its first win of the season with a 75-64 victory over conference opponent Lansing Community College Saturday at home in Battle Creek.

Leading the Bruins on the court were Khylen Watkins (Battle Creek/Harper Creek), who had 21 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists; Daleon Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview), who had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks; and Justin Knight (Oak Park/Oak Park High School), who had 15 points and 3 assists.

Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ben Reed said he was proud of the team because they played together as one, and played with lots of energy.

“Happy for the players in getting their first win of the season,” Reed said. “Good to get our first one but we won’t settle for winning one game, we will push to try and get a second one next week against Glen Oaks Community College.”

The team plays next at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, against conference opponent Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville. The Bruins’ next home game starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, against conference opponent Lake Michigan College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
