MPSERS retirement meetings for public school employees are March 28 at KCC

All public school employees interested in learning more about retirement options in the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) are invited to attend one of two informational sessions at Kellogg Community College this month.

For Employees New to MPSERS

The first meeting is at 4 p.m. March 28 in the Binda Performing Arts Center on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. This meeting is for employees hired after July 1, 2010, and will be led by a representative from Voya Financial.

This session is a MPSERS Pension Plus/401(k)/457 Plans Overview class and will feature details on the retirement plans, differences between them, investment options and more.

For Employees Within Five Years of Retirement

The second meeting, for employees hired before July 1, 2010, will be held at 5:30 p.m. March 28 in the Binda Performing Arts Center. This meeting is a Pre-Retirement Information Meeting for employees in the defined benefit pension plan who are expecting to retire in five years.

The session will be moderated by a retirement analyst from the Michigan Office of Retirement Services. The two-hour meeting will explain how to choose a pension payment option, how pension is calculated and other details.
