KCC student seeks donations, volunteers for campus Operation Christmas Child project

Kellogg Community College Dental Hygiene student Brittney Barnett is spearheading an Operation Christmas Child donation drive on campus and is seeking donations and volunteers to help bring gift-filled shoeboxes to kids in need.

Items particularly sought for donation include hygiene items and toys. Click here for a list of acceptable donations.

Items can be dropped off in any of the red Operation Christmas Child donation boxes on KCC’s North Avenue campus.

Barnett said her family has participated in Operation Christmas Child for five years; this year’s goal is to fill and ship at least 100 shoeboxes.

“I wanted to take a project where I could get KCC and the community to come together and support people in need,” Barnett said. “This project will not only impact our community, but over 100 countries as children receive these shoeboxes.”

Barnett is also seeking volunteers to help pack the shoeboxes with donation for shipping during a Packing Party at any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, on campus. Barnett estimates up to 30 volunteers will be needed to pack boxes and to help set up and take down the event.

Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer for the Oct. 27 Packing Party, contact Barnett at 269-245-9341 or k0283435@kellogg.edu.
