The Kellogg Community College Foundation is pleased to announce a second gift of $15,000 from the Calhoun County Veterans Affairs office with support from the Calhoun County Veterans Affairs Committee.

This additional gift will help grow the current scholarship endowment established by the committee in 2016.

The Calhoun County Veterans Affairs Scholarship currently awards recipients $500 annually and was established at KCC by Calhoun County Veterans Affairs due to the organizations’ mutual interest in assisting veterans and their families in the community.

Recipients must:

  • Be KCC students with a 2.5 GPA or higher and enrolled in a degree completion program
  • Live in Calhoun County
  • Have been discharged honorably or under honorable conditions from a branch of the U.S. military
  • Demonstrate financial need

Recipients who receive 100 percent tuition paying VA benefits are ineligible.

The scholarship is administered by the KCC Foundation; applications for the 2019-20 academic year will be available in January 2019.

Calhoun County Veterans Affairs Director Aaron Edlefson, Committee Chairperson Sam Gray and Calhoun County Board Chair Derek King visited campus recently to sign a new scholarship agreement with KCC President Mark O’Connell and KCC Foundation Director Teresa Durham.

“We are extremely proud to work with the Calhoun County Veterans Affairs Office to provide this scholarship opportunity to support our county veterans in their pursuit of higher education,” O’Connell said. “We value our continued partnership and commitment to serving all who are in service for us.”
