KCC to host Almuerzo Latino (Latin Lunch) Sept. 26 for Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month events will continue at Kellogg Community College this week with a special lunch featuring Latino cuisine on campus in Battle Creek.

KCC’s Almuerzo Latino (Latin Lunch) will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in the Kellogg Room adjacent to the Student Center on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave.

The lunch will include authentic foods from Chile, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico. The cost is $5 for students and $10 for non-students at the door.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in the U.S. from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 each year to celebrate Latino culture and the past and present contributions of individuals with Latino heritage. In addition to the Almuerzo Latino event detailed above, upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month events at KCC include:

Additionally, in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month activities at KCC, print copies of KCC’s Spanish language children’s picture book “Blaze Va a la Universidad” (“Blaze Goes to College”) are available now for purchase in the on-campus Bruin Bookstore. All profits from the book will go toward scholarships for the College’s Bruin Youth Programming camps and initiatives for area youth. The book can be read for free online at www.kellogg.edu/blaze.
