Women’s basketball results: KCC tied for first in conference after upset win over Mid Michigan

Monday’s away game was huge for Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team, which is tied for first place in the conference after a big win over previously undefeated Mid Michigan College.

KCC defeated Mid-Michigan — the No. 10 ranked team in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division II — 56-53.

  • Audrey DeWaters (#32): 12 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks
  • Jessalyn Genier (#12): 12 points and 6 rebounds
  • Taeshawn Genier (#15): 12 points and 6 rebounds
  • Kalista Hubbart (#10): 9 points and 3 assists

“We had some outstanding defense and stellar rebounding,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian. “We are home for our next two contest, Wednesday hosting Muskegon and then Saturday Jackson comes to Battle Creek. Go Lady Bruins!”

The recent win brings the Bruins’ overall record for the season so far to 10-6; the team’s conference record is 4-1.

The team plays next starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednsday, Jan. 22, home against Muskegon Community College. All KCC athletic events are free admission.
