Kellogg Community College’s men’s basketball team is holding a series of basketball Skills and Fundamental Teaching Camps for girls and boys in second through eighth grades from 2:30 to 5 p.m. each Saturday in April.
Registration begins at 1 p.m. this Saturday, April 7, at the Miller Physical Education Building on Kellogg Community College’s Battle Creek campus, located at 450 North Ave. A one-time fee of $25 will be collected and is good for all four camps, with proceeds going to support the men’s basketball program.
Melvin McKnight, head men’s basketball coach at the college, said kids should come dressed in athletic clothes and ready to play ball.
“We’re gonna teach them skills and fundamentals,” he said of the camps. “We also talk to them about going to school and keeping their grades up.”
McKnight said the camps ran last year in April and May and were a hit with kids and parents alike.
“The parents wouldn’t let me stop,” he joked.
