Kellogg Community College’s softball team lost two games in an away double header versus Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Tuesday, April 3, with a game-one score of 1-3 and a game-two tally of 4-12.
In game one, batting leaders included sophomore outfielder Elizabeth Damron, of Marshall, who hit one-for-two at bat, including an RBI; freshman pitcher Ashley Burrit, of Battle Creek, who also hit one-for-two at the plate; and sophomore pitcher Mercedies Angus, of Vermontville, who was one-for-three. Damron’s RBI single initially put KCC ahead 1-0.
Sophomore pitcher Kristin Van Oosten, of Battle Creek, led from the mound with three strikeouts in six innings.
In game two, batting leaders included Burrit, who was two-for-three at bat, racking up an RBI; and Van Oosten, who was one-for-two at bat with an RBI. Freshman infielder Tiffani Allwardt, of Vermontville, also went two-for-three at the plate.
The softball team’s next games start at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 6, when they take on Glen Oaks Community College in a double header at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
