Kellogg Community College’s men’s basketball team is holding a series of basketball Skills and Fundamental Teaching Camps for girls and boys in fifth through eighth grades from 8 a.m. to noon each day from Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 22.
Registration for the day camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 13, and tomorrow, Thursday, June 14, at the Miller Physical Education Building on Kellogg Community College’s Battle Creek campus, located at 450 North Ave.
The cost for the camps is $30 for the whole week or $10 per day, with proceeds going to support the men’s basketball program.
The camps follow similar programs offered on Saturdays at the college in April and May (see video from one of the May camps above) and will be run by the college’s new assistant basketball coach Ronald Jamierson.
Melvin McKnight, head men’s basketball coach at the college, said kids should come dressed in athletic clothes and ready to play ball.
“We’re gonna teach them skills and fundamentals,” he said of the camps. “We also talk to them about going to school and keeping their grades up.”
