KCC in the news: Sept. 6, 2012

  • Golden Grizzlies, the official athletics site for Oakland University, includes an article about adding two assistant coaches for the 2012-13 season. One of them is Ryan Hilton, who was an NJCAA All Star during his two years at Kellogg Community College.
  • WMUK posted an article featuring discussions with WMU President John Dunn, during which he says Western has a great relationship with Kellogg Community College. According to the article, “Dunn says students who transfer from community college perform well at Western. He says in part because they already have demonstrated success as a student.”
  • MLive.com’s Grand Rapids Small Colleges section includes a post about Davenport University baseball, which includes a mention of former Kellogg Community College pitcher Colton Loomis (pictured above). Loomis pitched for KCC after transferring from Davenport and was committed to playing ball at Purdue University; the MLive article says he’ll be transferring back to Davenport. A standout pitcher for the Bruins last spring, Loomis led the Bruins in strikeouts this year with 82 strikeouts in 59.1 innings, and was named to the All-Tournament Team following the National Junior College Athletic Association’s 2012 Region XII Baseball District Championship in May.
  • Today is Thursday, which means a new edition of the Battle Creek Shopper News. The free publication often includes articles related to Kellogg Community College.
