The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team opened their season last night with a one-point, 57-58 loss to the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne.
Freshman point guard Teonna Pope (Southeastern) led the Bruins on offense with 14 points and four assists. Pope also led the team in steals with five. Sophomore guard Taylor Mainestone (Harper Creek) and sophomore forward Malika Flenorl (Lakeview) added eight points apiece, and Flenorl also pulled down eight rebounds.
The team plays next beginning at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 17, against Mott Community College in Flint. They play their first official home game of the season beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, against Olivet College in the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus.
