KCC women’s basketball falls 54-68 to GRCC at home

The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team dropped a home game 54-68 to Grand Rapids Community College last night, failing to close what was just a three-point, 26-29 gap at halftime and falling behind in a rough second half.

Sophomore forward Janeesa Jamierson (Battle Creek Central) led the Bruins in scoring with 12 points and also had a steal. Sophomore forward Malika Flenorl (Lakeview) scored eight, while freshman guard Cherese Vasser (Southeastern) scored six and had five rebounds.

Also contributing for the Bruins was freshman forward Britni Upston (Tekonsha), who had three assists.

Wednesday night’s loss brings the team’s overall record to 4-8 for the season and to 0-3 for their Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference. They play next beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, against Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville.
