Here are some reminders of upcoming events related to Kellogg Community College.

Scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2013:

  • Students in the Horizons at KCC program travel to K Drive Greenhouse in East Leroy for a field trip. Their afternoon will be spent swimming at the Battle Creek YMCA. Click here for more information about the Horizons at KCC program from a post on this blog.
  • The first pair of four engineering and robotics summer camps for youth to be hosted by KCC’s Lifelong Learning department this summer begin at the college’s Regional Manufacturing Technology Center in Battle Creek. The current camps, which run through Thursday, include “Introduction to LEGO Engineering: Simple Machines & LEGO Mindstorm” from 8 a.m. to noon and “Introduction to LEGO Robotics” from 1 to 5 p.m. Click here for more information about the camps from a post on this blog.

Scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2013:

  • The priority processing deadline (FAFSA) for students applying for financial aid to attend KCC for the Fall 2013 semester is Friday, July 12. Submitting the FAFSA with correct and complete information by this date allows for adequate processing time in order to determine financial aid eligibility by the beginning of the fall semester. Scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2013:

  • KCC’s women’s soccer team will hold their third of four Open Field Kick Around days this summer from 10 a.m. to noon. Coaches are not allowed under National Junior College Athletic Association rules at these times to do any coaching or answer player questions about what they need to work on, but they will be present to open and set up the soccer field and to observe.   • The Upward Bound and Horizons at KCC summer learning programs for high schoolers and elementary school kids, respectively, are underway and will run weekdays through Friday, July 26.   • Registration is also underway for two sessions of summer Volleyball Skills Camps for Girls to be led by KCC’s women’s volleyball players and coaches in July. The deadline to register is Wednesday, July 17. Click here for more information from a post on this blog.

  • The deadline to apply to begin studies as part of the 2013-14 Police Academy at KCC is Friday, July 19. For more information, call 269-965-3931 ext. 2216, email crju@kellogg.edu or visit www.kellogg.edu/criminaljustice/index.html.
  • The priority processing deadline (all documents submitted) for students applying for financial aid to attend KCC for the Fall 2013 semester is Friday, July 26. By submitting all requested documentation with correct and complete information by these dates, students allow for adequate processing time in order to determine financial aid eligibility by the beginning of the fall semester.   • KCC’s Air Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) Trainer, an aircraft fire simulator used to train fire departments across the United States to respond to aircraft fires, will be used to train firefighters at an airport in Shiawassee County on Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21.   • Summer 2013 classes end Thursday, Aug. 15.
  • Fall 2013 classes begin Thursday, Aug. 29.
