Kellogg Community College’s Arts and Communication Department is holding auditions for the college’s Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop Ensemble and the cast of the fall production of Larry Shue’s comedy “The Nerd” in September.
Auditions for the Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop Ensemble will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4 and 11, in the auditorium of the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek.
Individuals auditioning for the ensemble must be prepared to present two musical selections of contrasting style, language and period; one selection must be of the classical repertoire performed by memory with an accompanist (available upon request) and one should be musical theater.
Fall rehearsals for the workshop will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays in room D215 of the Davidson Center and will culminate with a public performance of “Opera Meets Broadway, Part 3: Musical Madness” on Dec. 11.
Those interested in auditioning should call 269-565-7859 to reserve an audition time. For more information, contact Gerald Blanchard, director of the Vocal Arts at KCC, at 269-965-3931 ext. 2566 or blanchardg@kellogg.edu or visit www.kelloggchoirs.wordpress.com.
Auditions for “The Nerd,” KCC’s fall play, will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 5 and 6, at the Binda Theatre on KCC’s North Avenue campus. The play will run Oct. 11-13 and 18-20 at the Binda Theater.
KCC students auditioning for the play who are declaring theatre as a major should arrive ready to perform a 30-second- to one-minute-long comedic monologue of their choosing.
