Branch County Community Chorus seeks new members

Members of KCC choirs sing in Coldwater in December 2012.

The Branch County Community Chorus of Kellogg Community College is seeking new members to attend a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 284 W. State St., Coldwater.

Dr. Gerald Blanchard, director of the BCCC and a vocal music professor at KCC, said the BCCC – a non-auditioned community choir open to students and community members alike – is open to anyone who enjoys singing challenging choral music while having fun in the process.

“The choir strives to inspire, motivate and celebrate musical fellowship throughout all of Branch and surrounding counties,” Blanchard said. “The chorus is open to anyone who has a passion for music and a willingness to grow and develop.”

BCCC practices will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the church and will culminate in a public “Sounds of the Season” choral event on Dec. 7. There are several additional performances scheduled through the Spring 2014 semester for those who wish to continue with the choir, including a concert tour of Italy and Rome planned for this summer.

Individuals interested in joining the BCCC may participate in the chorus for academic credit or non-academic enrichment, but must sign up through the college by registering for MUSI-104-60.
