KCC to host free Music Open House Sept. 23-25

Choir singers rehearse at the Music Center

Individuals interested in studying music will have a unique opportunity to experience what Kellogg Community College has to offer during the college’s free Music Open House Sept. 23-25.

For these three days, the music faculty at KCC are opening the doors to their classrooms and individualized music lesson studios to give anyone interested in taking a music class at KCC the opportunity to see what music instruction is like at the college.

Dr. Gerald Blanchard, director of the Vocal Arts area at KCC, said the event is one way for people to “try on the reality of a music student” at KCC. While the event will hopefully serve as a recruitment effort, Blanchard said, it is also designed to introduce the arts to anyone who may have an interest in studying music.

“The college offers a wide variety of musical opportunities,” Blanchard said, “including private music lessons, performance ensembles, general music courses in theory, aural comprehension and music reading, music appreciation, fundamentals of music and much more.”
