Job seekers will have a chance to connect with employers and interview for jobs during the next Battle Creek Regional Job Fair, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Oct. 3, at Kellogg Arena, 36 W. Hamblin Ave., Battle Creek.
The biannual event, which is free and open to the public, is expected to include 60 employers from industries including health care, manufacturing, business and retail. A list of participating employers will appear online this week at www.bcrjf.blogspot.com.
Patrick Casey, director of Career and Employment Services at Kellogg Community College and an organizer of the event, said over the past two years the BCRJF has had more than 3,500 participants connect with 190 vendors, with more than 1,200 interviews granted to potential recruits.
This year’s event includes the option for companies to actually conduct interviews with promising job candidates from 1 to 3 p.m. on the day of the job fair.
“The Battle Creek Regional Job Fair provides that unique experience where you actually get face time with the recruiter, the HR manager or the company rep,” Casey said. “It’s the opportunity to connect the resume with the person, and you’re not going to get that any other time.”
The BCRJF was first held on KCC’s North Avenue campus in March 2012 and has since been hosted at Burnham Brook Community Center and the McCamly Plaza Hotel.
Sponsors of the Battle Creek Regional Job Fair include the Calhoun Intermediate School District, Davenport University, Goodwill Industries, Kellogg Community College, Michigan Works!, Miller College, WBCK-AM (95.3) and WBXX-FM (104.9).
