  • KCC’s Student Life office will host an event to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus. The event will feature free food, music and giveaways.
  • Chuck Newman, a career adviser and instructor at KCC, will present a free Academic Workshop titled “Emerging Technology for Job Search” from 3 to 3:50 p.m. in room 08 of the Ohm Information Technology Center.   • KCC’s women’s volleyball team plays against conference opponent Lake Michigan College beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Benton Harbor. For more information about the women’s volleyball team, visit www.kellogg.edu/athletics/volleyball/index.html.

Scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013:

  • KCC’s Air Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) Trainer, an aircraft fire simulator used to train fire departments across the United States to respond to aircraft fires, will be used for training exercises at a federal airfield in California beginning Oct. 2.   • Davenport University will host a Transfer Student Information Table in the central walkway of KCC’s North Avenue campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Kelly Frost, user education librarian at KCC’s Morris Learning Resource Center, will present a free Academic Workshop titled “Google Like a Librarian” from 3 to 3:50 p.m. in room 105 of the Ohm Information Technology Center.   • The KCC chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society will host an Information Social from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Kellogg Room in the Student Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus.

  • The Bruin Bookstore is celebrating National Student Day at KCC. Stop by for free cookies and a National Student Day wristband, and bring a non-perishable food item for the bookstore to donate and get entered into a prize drawing.

  • Miller College will host a Transfer Student Information Table in the central walkway of KCC’s North Avenue campus from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • The art exhibit “Gates of the North,” by artist and adjunct art instructor Donald W. VanAuken, concludes in the Eleanor R. & Robert DeVries Gallery in the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.   • KCC will host a free Transfer Tour of Western Michigan University departing from KCC’s North Avenue campus at 9 a.m. The tour will include transportation to and from WMU from KCC’s North Avenue campus, lunch, a campus tour of WMU and a WMU admissions presentation. The tours will include transportation to and from the transfer schools from KCC’s North Avenue campus, lunch, campus tours and admissions presentations.   • KCC will host a free Transfer Tour of Grand Valley State University departing from KCC’s North Avenue campus at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18.   • Spring 2014 registration opens at 7 a.m. online and at 8 a.m. in person on campus on Monday, Oct. 28.
