KCC basketball playing ‘Hunger Games’ for Food Bank

KCC's basketball teams will play "Hunger Games" on Jan. 20 to raise donations for a local food bank

Kellogg Community College’s Athletics Department is partnering with the Food Bank of South Central Michigan to collect donated food as part of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s “Hunger Games” campaign through Jan. 20.

As part of the campaign, the College will accept donations of nonperishable food items or money on behalf of the men’s and women’s basketball teams to be donated to the Food Bank. The campaign will culminate with the basketball teams’ home games against Ancilla College on Monday, Jan. 20.

The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game begins at 7:30 p.m.

Donations will be accepted at the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek during business hours through Friday, Jan. 17. Items may also be dropped off at the gym from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and during the men’s and women’s home basketball games on Jan. 20.

The Bruins are competing with all other college basketball teams in their MCCAA conference divisions as well as with each other – the team that collects the most food at KCC will win a pizza party for their team.
