Coffeehouse Concert Series to host first comedy show

Students hang out in the newly renovated Student Center during the first day of Fall 2013 classes.

Kellogg Community College’s Student Life office will open its spring Coffeehouse Concert Series with a free comedy show featuring a pair of Michigan comedians Feb. 18.

The event, which will be open to the public as well as to students, will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Student Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. Performing will be KCC student Kid Kypree, of Battle Creek, and Josh Adams, of Detroit.

TaNisha Parker, manager of Student Life at KCC, said the office’s Coffeehouse Concert Series has brought several forms of entertainment to campus over the past two years, but this will be the first series event to feature comedy.

“My goal with the Coffeehouse Concert Series is to bring diverse artists and art forms to campus for students,” Parker said. “We’ve done a poetry reading, folk music, rappers and cover bands. Why not comedians?”

KCC’s newly renovated Student Center is located in the heart of the College’s main campus and includes the Bruin Bistro, a full-service cafeteria offering entrees as well as snacks and drinks to go.
