Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team will host a series of free open gym nights on Wednesdays this summer, beginning June 11.
The open gym nights are open to girls in seventh through 12th grades and will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday through August at KCC’s Miller Gym, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek.
Each session will consist of timed games, with teams rotated and equally divided by age and skill level.
Kyle Klingaman, head women’s basketball coach at KCC, said the open gyms are designed to give younger players exposure to what college basketball is like.
“You can ask us what the program is about, how good the league is and you can learn more about the NJCAA,” Klingaman said. “Everybody will get a lot of playing time.”
