The Kellogg Community College Board of Trustees on June 18 approved the appointment of Teresa Durham as executive director of the Kellogg Community College Foundation, a nonprofit which provides scholarships to hundreds of KCC students each year.

Durham, who has served as the foundation’s interim executive director since February, was most recently the director of the Nonprofit Alliance at KCC. Over the past few months, Durham fulfilled both roles while Ginger Cutsinger, the Foundation’s previous executive director, was on leave. As the fiscal agent for the Nonprofit Alliance, KCC intends to maintain services to area nonprofit organizations as local funders and organizations continue to explore ways to deliver resources and programs.

A KCC alumna, Durham has more than 20 years’ experience in nonprofit consulting and civic engagement, with expertise in board governance, strategic planning, fund development and event management. She is a Certified Community Coach and has a certificate in Fund Raising Management from Indiana University. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration in Organizational Development at Spring Arbor University.

“I am ready to serve the College in this role and provide thoughtful leadership and stewardship for the KCC Foundation,” Durham said. “I am looking forward to working with an incredible KCC staff, committed board of directors, generous donors and the community to help students attain their academic goals.”

Although the Foundation is an independent organization with its own board of directors, the staffing – consisting of an executive director and secretary – is provided by the College in order to keep Foundation expenses low. Earlier this month, the KCCF Board of Directors voted unanimously to recommend that Dr. Dennis Bona, president of KCC, offer Durham the position immediately rather than advertise the job opening and consider other applicants. Bona presented that recommendation to the KCC Board of Trustees, which has ultimate authority over all personnel changes at the College.
