Kellogg Community College will host its semi-annual Volunteer and Civic Engagement Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, inside the Kellogg Room of the Student Center, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek.
The purpose of the fair is to connect KCC students and the public with volunteer opportunities across the communities served by the College.
“The Volunteer and Civic Engagement Fair is a great opportunity for students and community partners,” said Kate DeGraaf, service-learning manager at KCC. “The fair is a fantastic place to find ways to give back and also become more aware of all the services and resources that are available in our community.”
At the fair, students and others interested in community service and service-learning can drop in to learn about the work of participating organizations as they serve in the Battle Creek area. In many cases, volunteers will be able to sign up for specific opportunities during the fair.
Many KCC students pursuing an associate degree at KCC are required to have a service-learning endorsement on their transcripts. The Volunteer and Civic Engagement Fair is a convenient way for students and organizations to connect, DeGraaf said.
