The Kellogg Community College women’s volleyball team fell in three sets to conference opponent Lansing Community College in Lansing on Tuesday, with final scores of 20-25, 21-25 and 17-25, respectively.
Amy Julien, head coach for the Bruins, said Lansing played well.
“We were right there with them,” Julien said. “It was the small mental lapses that held us back from getting the win.”
On offense for KCC, freshman Grace Crawford (Marshall/Marshall High School) had eight kills and one ace and sophomore Tristen Ehredt (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School) had four kills and one ace. Freshman Kenya House (Riverdale/St. Louis High School) added two aces and sophomore Victoria Rybinski (Brutus/Pellston High School) added one, along with 14 assists.
Defensively, Crawford had eight digs and one assisted block, Ehredt had one solo block, House had two digs and Rybinski had three digs and one assisted block.
The loss brings the Bruins’ conference record to an even 1-1 and the team’s overall record to 3-4 for the season so far. Their next home game starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, against conference opponent Kalamazoo Valley Community College at the Miller Gym. Admission to all home games is free.
This Thursday is also Patriot’s Day at the Miller Gym, when a moment of silent remembrance will follow the National Anthem.
