The final application deadline for individuals interested in applying for a Kellogg Community College Music Scholarship for the 2015-16 academic year is 5 p.m. Monday, March 2.
KCC Music Scholarships vary in size from $100 to $500 per semester for selected students and are available for current KCC students and high school seniors planning to study at the College who exhibit outstanding vocal or instrumental promise.
Applicants must fill out both of the following applications to apply:
The application process for students or potential students vying for the scholarships culminates in an audition to be scheduled with the applicant no later than Friday, March 6, in the Kellogg Room of the Mawby Center (the Miller College building) on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek.
Individuals interested in applying for a KCC Music Scholarship should prepare the following in advance of their audition:
- Vocalists: Vocalist applicants for a KCC Music Scholarship should prepare two musical selections of contrasting style, language and period. One must be of the classical repertoire (aria, Italian art song, lieder or chanson) performed by memory with an accompanist.
- Instrumentalists: Instrumentalist applicants for a KCC Music Scholarship should prepare two contrasting solo pieces, one a fast and technical composition and the second a slower and more expressive composition.
- Pianists: Pianist applicants for a KCC Music Scholarship should prepare two works from memory that represent contrasting periods and styles of music.
