Local companies are hiring, and Kellogg Community College is looking for people who want to get to work.
KCC is seeking applicants to join the next KCC Advanced Manufacturing Assembly (KAMA) group for job training that’s free for those who meet certain requirements. The next training program is four weeks long and runs May 26 through June 26, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to noon Fridays.
The job training is held at the College’s Regional Manufacturing Technology Center, 405 Hill Brady Road, Battle Creek, and involves a working manufacturing line on which trainees will learn how to do the types of jobs they’ll be doing in the workplace.
Participants will:
- Understand the role of a “production associate” and the manufacturing environment, including how to perform the physical demands of the job.
- Strengthen their leadership skills, including professionalism, responsibility, time management, teamwork and accountability skills.
- Understand workplace performance measures and standards used in the manufacturing environment.
- Create an effective resume and learn interview techniques that will boost their confidence in the job-search process.
