The Kellogg Community College Foundation’s annual Bruin Scholarship Open golf outing to raise money for student scholarships will be held on Friday, Sept. 11.

The annual event – beginning this year with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Binder Park Golf Course in Battle Creek – is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Foundation and has raised nearly $800,000 over the past 17 years. In 2014, the KCC Foundation raised a record amount of $93,245 through the event, enough to pay for approximately 30 student scholarships.

“The Bruin Scholarship Open continues to be a key contributor to the educational enrichment of this community,” said Teresa Durham, executive director of the KCC Foundation. “The many golfers, sponsors and dedicated staff, scholarship recipients and  athletes who help make this event such a huge success year after year demonstrate time and again the Battle Creek area’s commitment to education and student success in the classroom, and we’re grateful for such strong community support.”

A full roster of 60 teams are expected to participate and more than 100 sponsors will be represented in the Bruin Open this year, which will include an 18-hole scramble, prize raffle, 50-50 raffle, special hole contests including a Money on the Green Putting Contest, music, lunch and dinner. The event will be coordinated by more than 50 members of KCC’s staff and more than three dozen KCC student-athlete volunteers.
