Kellogg Community College is seeking submissions of artwork created by military veterans for display as part of the College’s Veterans Art Exhibit this month.
KCC’s Veterans Art Exhibit is on display now but the College is accepting additional submissions through 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. The exhibit will show through Nov. 30 in KCC’s Emory W. Morris Learning Resource Center (LRC), which houses the KCC library on campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. The exhibit is open for public viewing during the LRC’s regular business hours of 7:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
An Opening Reception for the exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in KCC’s Spring Lake Room, located in the LRC. Light refreshments will be provided.
Participating artists must be military veterans but do not have to be KCC students; any creative media may be submitted, but photos, paintings and drawings must be framed to facilitate display. All framed projects can be turned in at the LRC, and a completed Veterans Month Art Submission form – available online at http://bit.ly/VeteransArt2015 – must accompany all pieces.
Veterans interested in participating in the exhibit should contact KCC’s Kassie Dunham (269-565-2613) or Stefanie Overhuel (269-565-7970) to make drop-off arrangements for their art.
The Veterans Art Exhibit is just one of several veteran-related events and initiatives to be held at KCC during the month of November, which has been designated Military Veterans Awareness Month at the College to recognize the service of U.S. military veterans.
