Kellogg Community College’s Choral Union will join a choir of more than 200 singers to perform with the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra during a presentation of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony this weekend.
The Battle Creek Symphony’s “Beethoven’s 9th” concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at W.K. Kellogg Auditorium, 50 W. Van Buren St., Battle Creek. Tickets range in price from $8 to $45 and are available online via www.yourmusiccenter.org or by calling the 269-963-1911.
KCC’s Choral Union is a vocal group consisting of members from KCC’s three residential choirs, including the Branch County Community Chorus, the Kellogg Singers and the Concentus Vocal Ensemble. The group has performed at major venues in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts in addition to performing in Ireland and Italy on international concert tours in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
The KCC ensemble has also opened for such groups as the Grammy Award-winning musical groups Take 6 and Sweet Honey in the Rock, and regularly collaborates with major musical organizations including the Sacred Music Festival of Kalamazoo, the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Haydn Festival Orchestra and the Monroe Community Chorale and Symphony.
For “Beethoven’s 9th,” the Choral Union will join groups including the Battle Creek Community Chorus, Albion Concert Choir, Lakeview High School Choir, Pennfield High School Choir and Vicksburg High School Chamber Singers, in addition to acclaimed soloists, to present one of the best-known works in classical music.
