Youth Softball Clinic to be held Jan. 31 at KCC

Youth softball players will have a chance to enhance their skills in the sport with help from college athletes during a Kellogg Community College Softball Clinic this month.

The KCC Softball Clinic, hosted by KCC softball players and coaches, will run in two sessions on Sunday, Jan. 31, at KCC’s Miller Physical Education Building, on campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. Sessions include:

  • Session 1
    4th through 8th grades
    8 a.m. to noon
  • Session 2
    9th through 12th grades
    2 to 6 p.m.

The four-hour clinics will cover defensive and hitting skills. Participants are asked to come ready to play and to bring their own glove, helmet, bat, snack and a water bottle.

Registration

Individuals interested in participating in the KCC Softball Clinic are encouraged to register as soon as possible, as space in each session is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis.

Registration forms are available online at www.kellogg.edu/softball. Once completed, forms may be dropped off or mailed with payment to Lifelong Learning, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek, MI 49017, or faxed to 269-565-2129. Phone registration using a credit card is also available by calling the Lifelong Learning office at 269-965-4134.

Registration for the KCC Softball Clinic is $40 and is due by Friday, Jan. 22, to KCC’s Lifelong Learning Department. All individuals registered by the Jan. 22 deadline will receive a free KCC T-shirt.

About KCC Softball

The KCC softball team finished a record-breaking season in 2015 as the Michigan Community College Athletic Association state champion and MCCAA Western Conference champion, wrapping up the spring with a 27-5 conference record and a 37-13 record overall. The Bruins ended the spring with more wins than any other KCC softball team in the program’s history, winding up their season in the quarterfinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Softball District I Championship. The Spring 2016 season will be the team’s first under new head coach Derek Herman.
