Kellogg Community College and the Community Music School, a program of The Music Center, invite the public to join them for a Communitywide Hymn Sing this weekend.

The Communitywide Hymn Sing will begin at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the auditorium of the newly renovated Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center, on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek.

The event will be conducted by KCC Vocal Arts Director Dr. Gerald Blanchard, who will lead the audience in singing traditional Christian hymns across a variety of denominations. Community Music School Director Nancy Brown and KCC faculty pianist Kathy Cary will accompany on two pianos. Hymnals with lyrics and music will be provided by First Congregational and First Presbyterian churches in Battle Creek.

The Communitywide Hymn Sing is one of several special musical events offered as part of KCC and the Community Music School’s VoiceFest on Feb. 13. The daylong event, which also includes concerts and participatory vocal workshops, begins at 11 a.m. and runs through the evening, when the Formosa Trio will present a concert at 7:30 p.m.

Admission to the Communitywide Hymn Sing is $3 at the door, but registration is free with a full VoiceFest registration. VoiceFest registration is $10 and may be completed onsite on the day of the event or in advance by contacting the Community Music School at 269-963-1911 ext. 2589. Partial registration for those who only want to attend a part or parts of the event also is available.
