Kellogg Community College’s Branch County Community Chorus will join forces with the Union City Community Chorale next month to present a joint vocal concert in April.

The choirs will present “Many Choirs, One Voice: A Celebration of the Choral Arts” beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 E. Chicago St., Coldwater. Admission is free, but a freewill offering will be collected to support KCC choral music initiatives, including student scholarships.

The concert will feature a wide variety of musical selections from genres ranging from classical to musical theatre, and the program will include several selections performed by individual ensembles as well as special collaborative performances including members of participating choirs including KCC’s Choral Union, the Concentus Vocal Ensemble and the Kellogg Singers in addition to the BCCC and the UCCC.

Featured musical selections will include “Live-a-Humble” by Peter Bagley; “Consider Yourself,” by Lionel Bart; “The Best of All Possible Worlds,” by Leonard Bernstein; “In Song We Raise our Voices,” by Dominic Dousa; “It’s a Grand Night for Singing,” by Rodgers and Hammerstein; “Comic Duet for Two Cats,” by Gioachino Rossini; “Lead On, O King Eternal,” by Henry Smart; and many others.

All choirs will perform under the artistic direction of Dr. Gerald Blanchard, music coordinator and director of vocal music at KCC, with accompaniment from Nancy Brown and Cynthia Garn. Blanchard said the concert program will appeal to music lovers of all types.

“There is truly something for everyone at this year’s concert; the range is vast and packed with quality,” Blanchard said. “I can promise you the finale of this concert will have the audience on its feet.”
