The deadline to apply for the Marshall Community Foundation’s Joseph R. Scalf Memorial Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students is May 1.
The scholarship is designed to assist individuals in need of additional education and/or technical training to enhance current employment status and/or employability. It is awarded annually to a nontraditional student returning to a two- or four-year institution (full- or part-time) after being out of school for one or more years. Single parents, displaced workers or homemakers are encouraged to apply.
According to a news release from the MCF, Scalf, the scholarship’s namesake, was passionate about music and film and especially loved his family. The MCF notes that applicants should reveal their own passions and how those passions motivate them to pursue their goals.
