KCC Center for Diversity to host keynote from leading diversity consultant April 27

Kellogg Community College’s Center for Diversity and Innovation with host a keynote address from a leading diversity consultant this month in Battle Creek.

The keynote, titled, “Reframing and Engaging Resistance,” is free and open to the public and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the Kool Family Community Center, 200 Michigan Ave. W, Battle Creek. It will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington, founder and president of the Washington Consulting Group, a multicultural organizational development firm based in Baltimore that was named one of the Top 10 Global Diversity Consultants in the world by The Economist in 2015.

Washington’s address will touch on the skills and tools needed by organizations and individuals experiencing resistance while working to create communities that are more respectful and valuing of diversity, including how individuals can act as “culture change agents” to build capacity for success even in the face of such resistance.

Washington has been an educator, administrator and consultant in higher education for more than 32 years. He founded the Social Justice Training Institute, where he serves as president, and has also served as a visiting professor at Salem State University.
