KCC volleyball falls to GRCC in four sets at home

Kellogg Community College’s women’s volleyball team fell to conference opponent Grand Rapids Community College in four sets Tuesday at home in Battle Creek.

The Raiders took set one 25-21, set three 25-12 and set four 25-19; the Bruins took set two 25-12.

KCC was led on the court by sophomore Emily Delmotte (Marshall/Marshall High School), who had 11 kills, 2 solo blocks and 4 block assists; freshman Rose Tecumseh (Battle Creek/Lakeview High School), who had 12 kills, 2 aces, 2 solo blocks and 5 block assists; freshman Kameron Haley (Battle Creek/St. Philip Catholic Central High School), who had 36 digs, 5 aces and 3 kills; and sophomore Hannah Landis (Three Rivers/Three Rivers High School), who had 12 kills, 2 blocks and 9 digs.

Head KCC Coach Tom VanWienen said it was a great match by both teams.

“Very proud of the ladies tonight,” VanWienen said. “Good funny match to be a part of and will help us get better moving forward.”

The loss brings the Bruins’ record for the season so far to 8-2 and their conference record to 4-2.

The team’s next match starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at home at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek, against conference opponent Muskegon Community College.
