Kellogg Community College’s men’s basketball team opened the Bruins’ 2017-18 season Saturday with an 85-66 loss at home versus Carl Sandburg College of Galesburg, Illinois.
Leading the Bruins on the court were sophomores Michael Foehr (Coldwater/Quincy High School), who had 20 points and 3 rebounds, and Jalen Robinson (Ypsilanti/Ypsilanti High School), who had 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ben Reed said the Bruins came out with a lot of energy but fell behind early due to turnovers and first-game jitters.
“Long season ahead of us,” Reed said. “All we can do is learn from this early loss, grow as a team and come out ready to play in our next game against Henry Ford.”
The team plays next at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, against Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. Their next home game starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, against the JV squad from Calvin College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
