The application deadline for student seeking to enroll in Kellogg Community College’s new Agricultural Operations Program partnership with Michigan State University this spring is Friday, Dec. 15.

The new program, which formally launched this fall, is designed to prepare graduates for jobs or further education in crop and soil science, farm management, operations and safety in the agricultural field. Agricultural Operations students have the opportunity to earn an Associate in General Studies degree at KCC while simultaneously earning an Agricultural Operations Certificate through MSU, with all coursework completed entirely at KCC. Additionally, each Agriculture Operations student is required to complete a summer internship before graduating.

Entrance to the program requires applying both to KCC and the MSU Institute of Agricultural Technology, applications for which are available on KCC’s website at www.kellogg.edu/agriculture.

The first cohort of Agricultural Operations students will wrap up the first semester of Ag Ops programming when fall classes end Dec. 18. The program, which was announced last spring, was made possible in part through $45,000 startup funding coordinated by the KCC Foundation to support the hiring of staff and marketing for the program.

Funds were raised by the following foundations, individuals and organizations:

  • The Anderson Foundation
  • The Cronin Foundation
  • DuPont Pioneer
  • The Guido A. and Elizabeth H. Binda Foundation
  • The Marshall Community Foundation
  • Russ and Lou Ann Mawby
  • The W.K. Kellogg Foundation
