Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team lost its latest away game 72-62 Saturday against Mott Community College in Flint.
Leading the Bruins on the court were Destiny Kincaide (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy), who had 29 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals; Sarah Gwinn (Jackson/Jackson Northwest), who had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals; and Dareka Clayton (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central), who had 10 points and 19 rebounds.
Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian said the Bruins fell behind 21-1 in the first quarter, but kept battling and playing hard. The defense and rebounding got them back in it, but they didn’t have enough to overcome the slower start.
“Destiny was unstoppable in the second half, Dareka was a warrior and recorded her fourth double-double of the season and Sarah really upped her play to have a strong game,” Doumanian said. “The plan is to build on our best effort of the season and play even better Monday at Albion. Go Bruins!”
The Bruins’ next home game starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, against Oakton Community College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
