KCC women’s basketball falls 57-50 to Glen Oaks

KCC's 2017-18 women's basketball team.

Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team lost its latest away game 57-50 Wednesday against conference opponent Glen Oaks Community College.

Leading the Bruins on the court were Sarah Gwinn (Jackson/Jackson Northwest), who had 13 points and 13 rebounds; Dareka Clayton (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central), who had 12 points, 19 rebounds and 3 blocks; and Destiny Kincaide (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy), who had 10 points.

Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian said the Bruins led by 7 at half time, but lost the focus and energy in the second half.

“We actually trailed 53-43 with about 2 minutes left to play,” said Doumanian. “Cut the lead to 53-50 with under a minute to go but couldn’t score, had to foul and GOCC went 4-4 from the line.”

The Bruins’ next home game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, against conference opponent Lake Michigan College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
