KCC women’s basketball falls 63-38 to Mid-Michigan

KCC's 2017-18 women's basketball team.

Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team lost its latest home game 63-38 Saturday against conference opponent Mid-Michigan Community College.

Leading the Bruins on the court were Dareka Clayton (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central), who had 15 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks; Destiny Kincaide (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy), who had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists; and Sarah Gwinn (Jackson/Jackson Northwest), who had 6 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals.

“I thought we had a great defensive effort against the top team in the West,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian. “We mixed our defenses well and hit the boards hard, but we struggled again on the offensive end.”

The team plays next at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, against conference opponent Jackson College in Jackson. The Bruins’ next home game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, against conference opponent Grand Rapids Community College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
