KCC women’s basketball falls 67-50 to Jackson College

KCC's 2017-18 women's basketball team.

Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team lost its latest away game 67-50 Wednesday against conference opponent Jackson College.

Leading the Bruins on the court were Sarah Gwinn (Jackson/Jackson Northwest), who had 15 points; Dareka Clayton (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central), who had 11 points and 17 rebounds; Destiny Kincaide (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy), who had 10 points; and Kimi Rook (Mattawan/Mattawan High School), who had 8 points.

Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian said the Bruins had a really strong defensive effort for 40 minutes.

“We trailed by 10 points early in the fourth quarter but turned it over three straight possessions,” Doumanian said. “Jackson College finally scored after the third one and we never could get any closer.”

The Bruins’ next home game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, against conference opponent Grand Rapids Community College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
