KCC women’s basketball falls 65-34 to Grand Rapids Community College

KCC's 2017-18 women's basketball team.

Kellogg Community College’s women’s basketball team lost its latest home game 65-34 Saturday against conference opponent Grand Rapids Community College.

Leading the Bruins on the court were Sarah Gwinn (Jackson/Jackson Northwest), who had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals; Destiny Kincaide (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy), who had 9 points and 4 steals; and Dareka Clayton (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central), who had 8 points and 9 rebounds.

“Unfortunately our lack of scoring hurt us again big time as we had another really strong defensive effort,” Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian said. “It’s hard to believe we only have one week left, traveling to Lansing on Monday, then home for our season finale Wednesday versus Glen Oaks. Go Bruins!”

The team plays next at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, against conference opponent Lansing Community College in Lansing. The Bruins’ next home game starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, against conference opponent Glen Oaks Community College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
