KCC wins national Paragon Award for graphic design

The Public Information and Marketing Department at Kellogg Community College is thrilled to announce it has received a Paragon Award – a coveted, national recognition among community colleges – from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.

NCMPR announced in January that KCC was among the finalists for a Paragon Award, which recognizes excellence in communication and marketing in community colleges across the United States and Canada. On Sunday, March 18, KCC learned during an awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada, that it had won the silver level of Paragon.

Specifically, KCC received its Paragon Award for the printed invitations designed for the College’s 60th Anniversary Gala in 2017. The invitation’s white ink on black paper, combined with a subtle, silvery finish and the use of a vellum insert, conveyed a sense of understated glamour in advance of an event that raised more than $10,000 for student scholarships.

Eric Greene, Director of Public Information and Marketing at KCC, attended the awards ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of KCC.

“When creating marketing materials and promoting Kellogg Community College, in big ways and small ways, we strive to reflect the institution’s professionalism, vibrancy and community-centered mission,” Greene said. “The invitation our team designed for the anniversary gala matched the elegant tone of the celebration and contributed to its success. We are grateful to the NCMPR and our peers around the country for recognizing our effort and for inspiring us for the future.”

KCC’s PIM Department provides a variety of integrated marketing, communications, graphic design and public relations services on behalf of the College. In addition to Greene, the department includes Kathy Jarvie, media design manager; June Lewis, print and document services staff assistant; Mike Loader, print and document services technician; Kristen Stolz, secretary; and Simon Thalmann, digital marketing manager.

The NCMPR, based in New Mexico, represents marketing, communications, public relations and enrollment management professionals at community and technical colleges across the United States and Canada. The organization provides professional development opportunities, advocates on behalf of the profession and recognizes professional excellence.
