KCC softball extends season, will compete in regional tournament May 9

The KCC softball team meets on the field during a home game.

The Kellogg Community College softball team has extended the program’s final season by qualifying for postseason play.

The Bruins, fresh off a pair of wins over conference opponent Muskegon Community College Saturday, will play Jackson College in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region 12 District I Tournament beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Ranney Park in Lansing.

“We’ll have a chance to keep the season going and that’s a great spot to be in,” KCC’s Head Softball Coach Mike Miller said after Saturday’s wins. “The ladies have been playing the game the right way and for the right reasons and congratulations to them for that.”
